When purchasing flower arrangements from a florist, the less specific you are, the greater the value will be. There is a great difference between requesting, "5 Red Gerbera Daisies, 3 Yellow Roses, 4 White Orchids, etc." and "just a bright, cheerful bouquet." Although florists can happily create a specific design for you (ordering early for something specific is always ideal), keep in mind that florists have a certain amount of product on hand at any given time. The "designer's choice" rule especially applies to same-day or urgent/last minute deliveries.

Florists also know what blooms are at their prime, and which ones aren't quite ready yet. Plus, you never know what they have a surplus of at that time. If they have a surplus of orchids and roses, you may end up receiving a bouquet with a value greater than what you spent!

Give an artist three colors to work with, a very small canvas, and strict instructions, and the end result is more restricted, possibly not reaching its full potential. Give your florist a general idea of what you like, the occasion, and a budget, and allow them to work their magic to convey the perfect message on your behalf. Now you're getting the most value for your dollar!
